Pre-European Maori hairstyles

We are often asked about traditional Maori hairstyles.

The picture opposite comes from "Taonga tuku iho : illustrated encyclopedia of traditional Maori life / by A.W. Reed ; revised by Buddy Mikaere" which has a page on how Maori would have worn their hair in pre-European times.

If you have any more information or wish to comment, please post to this blog

0Our hairs are known to be as the crowning glory, so we should take good care of it. We should keep our hair from direct sunlight since it causes frizz and dryness. Also, use the appropriate shampoo and conditioner those that are organic made.
